WHAT IS SCALING?
It is a common dental procedure to treat gum disease , clean tooth and improve aesthetics. It is used to clean deeply for excessive plaque buildup.

NEED OF SCALING
In absence of proper oral hygiene whatever we eat some food particles stick to tooth and deposition of plaque get started leading to loosening of gum and pocket formation. This results in gum swelling, redness,gum pain, mobility of tooth.

PROCESS OF SCALING
TWO METHODS ARE PRESENT
Manual scaling-instruments dental scaler and curette used to remove plaque deposition.these are handheld instruments
Ultrasonic scaling-it contain vibrating metal tip with water spray. Tip chips away plaque and water flushes all out of pocket.

Scaling followed by root planing so root of tooth is planed for proper reattachment of root to gums.

WHAT PATIENTS FEEL DURING SCALING
If one have sensitive then it might be painful so the area is numbed by anaesthetic spray and scaling performed in 2 visits but in some cases there is no pain.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER SCALING
A clean,fresh healthy teeth with healthy gum tightened tooth contact free from halitosis i.e bad breadth and a beautiful and improved aesthetics.
