SYMPTOMS OF DENTAL ANXIETY OR DENTAL PHOBIA
1)You ignore visit to dentist unless or until you experience unbearable pain or serious infection.
2)You feel uneasy during visit to a dentist.
3)You feel physically ill when thinking of going to dentist.
4)You feel breathlessness when you are in clinic waiting room or on chair.
5)You feel irritated or very sad during visit.
COMMON DENTAL FEAR THAT CAUSES ANXIETY
1)FEAR OF PAIN – If you have early negative or bad or bitter DENTAL experience that led you to distrust.
2)FEAR OF INJECTION OR BLOOD – Some people feel dizzy nauseated after seeing blood and some have fear of injection even after seeing injection needle
3)FEAR OF AFTER AFFECT OF INJECTION – Numbness tingling of lips etc for short duration.
4)Some people tensed of not able to see or feel what going in their mouth.
MANAGEMENT OF DENTAL ANXIETY
1) Communication – You should have to tell everything about your pain, fear or previous bitter experience (if any).
2) Ask your dentist to explain what is happening and a nutshell of procedure and after effects.
3) If your dentist not took your concern seriously then find another dentist.
4) Establish a hand signal communication with your dentist if you need to take break or if you experience any pain.
